Sunday Morning

Sunday! I love Sunday, it’s a day off, a day to rest, and a day to spend hanging out with the family.

I love, love, love my time off with my family. We have such a great dynamic in the house – nobody argues, everyone picks up after themselves, and we’re available to each other.

And while I could spend this post comparing my life now to my life one year ago; I don’t need to do that. Because that was then and this is now – and they don’t need to intersect.

Letting go is a part of changing and probably the hardest part. Letting go means actively not thinking about the past and making an effort to remain focused on the now. Being present in the present is the best way to let go of the past.  Letting go of the past does not mean forgetting everything that happened.  There are memories good and bad that will always be there; but you don’t have to focus on them – you don’t have to compare things now to then. You can live in the  present and allow  the past to shape you into a new person. That’s what the experiences of our lives are supposed to do.

It’s not healthy to live in the past. You must move forward and bring into the future your experiences. Let the things you’ve learned in life’s journey shape and  mold you into a better person. Be present in your present and live each day for it’s own.

Every new day is a unique opportunity to shine and be amazing. Challenge yourself daily to be the best you that you can be. Set goals, both personal and professional, and strive to achieve them. As you do achieve these goals, you will find that the past falls further and further behind – not because it no longer has meaning or value; but because you are moving ever forward toward  your goals.

God does not want for us to live in the past, He expects us to  forgive those who have wronged us, learn from our mistakes, and move ever forward toward our goal of being more like Him. Simple in theory, but because we are human its not that easy for us. He understands that, and is ready to help us heal and move forward in times where we need His mercy and grace.

I have begun a Bible Study this week. It’s a 60-day study designed to help you attain wisdom. It will take me through Psalms, Proverbs, Solomon… I will be sharing some of what I learn through this with you, in my new feature – Sunday Morning.

So, grab your favorite morning beverage – and join me each Sunday!
