The Pets

Yeah… pets are a big part of our lives around here… we have five of them… Allow me to introduce you!

Our oldest, and most beloved (by me alone, honestly) is the wild and wonderful 13 year old Magi. She was named after the old fairy in The Last Rainforest. When we moved from Georgia to Kentucky then Indiana she decided to move in with the neighbors and stayed behind. Though I miss her terribly, I know this was what was best for her.

Next up, and next oldest – the matriarch of the dog pack the irreplaceable Gracie:

The next in line for dominance is our outdoor doggy, Bosco – he’s a lab/boxer mix and has the personality of a big dumb ox… He lives in Tennessee now with my wonderful sister-in-law.

Next up, his companion Lilly, the German Shepherd. She’s skittish, and scared of her own shadow. She unfortunately met with an untimely end when she escaped and was hit by a car. She has now crossed the Rainbow Bridge.

Then there is Kitty – the little mix we got from a friend… her name is kitty because her first act as a puppy was to climb her owners curtains…

Then there is my daughters cat… the odd ball that meows loudly and tries valiantly to eat from the counters, Tucker. Tucker was attacked by a dog and developed an infection from which he could not recover. He is also over the Rainbow Bridge.

Next, my son Jon’s beautiful cat, Shakespeare. I swear this cat is every bit as refined and polished as his name intones… He refuses to get up on counters with food, he won’t use a litter box, opting for the great outdoors – he is also quite handsome:

This little angel… my little “pocket puppy” as I like to call him… Footnote:

We also have two new additions to the family courtesy of Kitty and Footnote – Bear and Shadow or “Adoo” as my grandson likes to call him.

Bear is irrepressibly intelligent and likes to help her daddy (my son Jon) cook dinner – we often refer to her as the Sous Chef:

And Shadow – or “Adoo”  is Our Girls little fella and is sweet as he can be. He’ll be a year old in June and is silly, fun, and still very much a puppy with a passion for running his little legs off:
